Make Camarillo bike-friendly

I was so excited to read the article regarding the Camarillo Calleguas bike path extension. Until I read it would be a least five years before becoming a reality.

The time is now to start making Camarillo a more bicyclefriendly city. The city and county need to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and use their bikes.

More bike paths and safer bike lanes built in a timely manner would go a long way in achieving this goal. Take a look at cities like Seattle that have taken action and have made bike-friendly cities.

Camarillo has perfect bike weather year-round (way better than Seattle). It seems a smart investment for our future so why wait five years? Keith Mynott Camarillo young college students? Many of those college students go on to become grade school teachers.

The concern here is that the subject in a grade school classroom may not explicitly be “critical race theory,” but when teachers have accepted it as part of their ideology, it will necessarily influence how and what they teach to young minds.

The same applies to “transgender” and “pronoun” issues being promoted in schools when these subjects should be left to parents. Many of us still believe, in spite of the fact that even a Supreme Court justice would not define the word “woman,” God created each as male or female. “. . . male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27).

Physical, biological science supports that argument. There are millions of us in this country who still believe that this is the greatest country on the face of the Earth. Why else would other millions be risking their lives to migrate across our southern border?

We also believe in the “acceptance, kindness and understanding” that Deborah Wenger mentions in her letter. We need to be kind and understanding of each other and be able to sit down and discuss why our world views are so far apart without having to use far right or far left labels. Armando Garza Camarillo
