Interface raises over $184K at Love is Brewing event

Interface Children and Family Services’ recent ninth annual “Love is Brewing” fundraiser at the Museum of Ventura County raised more than $184,000 to provide comprehensive social services for children, families and individuals.

Community members, business owners, educators and county leaders attended to support Interface’s work in child abuse prevention, services for survivors of labor and sex trafficking, and emergency shelters for domestic violence and human trafficking survivors.

The event featured a musical performance by Chaparral, a local band that played golden era country music hits. Specialty cocktails, wine, beer and a catered gourmet lunch were available.

During the program, assault survivor Brenda Tracy delivered a virtual presentation about her work in sexual assault prevention, encouraging men to “set the expectation that sexual assault and violence are never okay.”

The benefit posthumously honored former Interface board member Ron Polito, who was an avid supporter of Interface’s work and a champion of the child abuse prevention program “My Body Belongs to Me,” which provides prevention education to thousands of children across Ventura County each year.

Erik Sternad, Interface’s executive director, praised Polito’s dedication to early prevention and intervention efforts.

The live auction featured donated experiences such as a weekend stay on a working vineyard in Paso Robles, a private scenic flight along the California coast for two, a party for 40 at Surf Rodeo Headquarters in Ventura and an afternoon barbecue for 20 on a Santa Rosa Ranch.
