A 19-year-old man is dead after being shot May 5 in Camarillo.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the “firearms assault” appears to be an isolated event “with no further known threat to the public.”
Around 8:30 p.m. May 5 deputies received reports of a disturbance and then gunshots in the 400 block of Fulton Street.
After they arrived, they discovered evidence of a shooting and learned that the victim, later identified as Garrett Sutton, was being treated at a local hospital for gunshot wounds.
Sutton was later taken to a different hospital for more advanced care, where he died the next day.
Sutton graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School, according to his social media.
Sheriff’s Capt. Cameron Henderson told the Acorn he is unable to provide additional information about the incident but said this is the first homicide in Camarillo this year.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information on this incident to contact Sgt. Albert Ramirez at (805) 384-4761 and submit relevant surveillance videos to venturasheriffca.evidence.com/axon/ community-request/public/23-57089.
