Enjoy food, music, art at Festival in the Park





The fourth annual Festival in the Park will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sat., May 12 at Barranca Vista Center and Park, 7050 Ralston St., Ventura.

Local artists such as Cheer-e-o the Clown and performers from the Reptile Family, Bible Fellowship Children’s Choir, Mad Science, Ventura County Spirit Company and Inlakech Cultural Arts Center will provide family entertainment.

Children’s activities include face painting, art projects and moon bounces. Food vendors will also be at the celebration.

A Kids Swap Meet will be from noon to 3 pm. “The swap meet is for kids by kids ages 5 to 18,” said event organizer Kathryn DippongLawson. “Youth are encouraged to clean out the closet or garage of gently used old games, toys, clothes bikes and books and then . . . sell or trade them.” Items must not be brand new or part of a business.

Gypsies in a Trunk will perform “Peter Pan,” the season opener of Fairytales in the Park, at 4 p.m.

Admission to the festival is free.

The event is sponsored by the city of Ventura Community Services Department Cultural Affairs Division.
