Deputy crashes during chase

A Ventura County sheriff’s deputy who had lost sight of the car he’d been pursuing crashed his patrol car in the early morning of April 22.

The officer had been alerted that a midsize SUV had evaded deputies in Oxnard and headed toward Camarillo. When the officer saw the car he gave chase, said Capt. Cameron Henderson.

But the driver of the SUV once again evaded law enforcement. The officer lost control of his car and crashed just after 1 a.m. near Motel 6, 1641 E. Daily Drive. He was treated for minor injuries, Henderson said.

No one else was involved in the crash.
