Stronger families 5K

The Partnership for Safe Families will host its fourth annual Stronger Families, Safer Kids 5K fundraiser at 4001 Mission Oaks Blvd., Camarillo in conjunction with April as National Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the Kids 1K at 8:45 and the 5K at 9.

YMCA raises $94K

The Camarillo Family YMCA hosted a Victory Celebration Dinner in March to honor the fund raisers in its 2018 annual campaign, which raised $94,300.

Marlena Bartlett was honorary chair of the campaign, which began in February.

This year, 93 volunteer campaigners raised money for the YMCA. All proceeds benefit children and their families accessing Y programs such as summer day camp, teen development, senior fitness, sports, after-school care, the cancer survivor program and memberships.

The Y is still accepting donations, which can be dropped off or mailed to the YMCA at 1 Village at the Park Drive, Camarillo, or by calling (805) 484-0423.

Gourd festival

Ventura County Gourd Artists will host the annual Gourd and Art Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., April 21 at the Rancho Santa Rosa Clubhouse, 11701 E. Las Posas Road, Santa Rosa Valley.

The event will feature gourd art, basketry, jewelry and other handcrafted items.

There will also be food, hourly giveaways, children’s crafts, a make-and-take gourd birdhouse opportunity ($5) and live music by the Old Time Country Bluegrass Gospel Music Association.

Admission and parking are free.
