Comedy on the Hill features stand-up talent

Vargus Mason, dubbed “The Human Cartoon” at the 2002 San Francisco Comedy Competition, will be part of the lineup during the next Live Stand-up Comedy on the Hill performance at 8 p.m. Sat., Aug. 12 at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Onstage, Mason is known for his highly physical movement and arsenal of animated voices. He’s appeared on “Last Comic Standing,” “Def Comedy Jam,” “Live at Gotham” and “Comics Unleashed.”

At the Hillcrest Center, he’ll be joined by comics Johnny Beehner and Jason Love.

Love is the host and producer of Live Stand-up Comedy on the Hill, which is presented at Hillcrest Center on the second Saturday of every month. He has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, “America’s Got Talent” and over 20 national broadcasts.

Beehner has a background in improvisational theater including training at Chicago’s Second City. He has appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Gotham Comedy Live” and regularly on the nationally syndicated “Bob & Tom Show.”

The 90-minute Comedy on the Hill show is for ages 18 and over. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Beer and wine may be purchased with valid ID. During the summer, shows are sometimes held outside, under the stars.

Advance tickets are $12, and general admission at the door is $15.
