City OKs janitorial contract

An Anaheim company received a three-year cleaning services contract from the City of Camarillo last week.

Coastal Building Services, which submitted the lowest bid for the contract out of five cleaning companies, will be paid $409,000 over the next three years to perform basic janitorial services at City Hall, the city’s maintenance yard on Glenn Drive and the Camarillo Library.

City Council members approved the contract May 10 as part of the consent calendar on the meeting agenda.

Coastal Building Services was among five firms that submitted bids for the contract.

Previously, the custodial contract was held by Monterey Park-based Merchants Building Maintenance, but the agreement expired, said Richard Petropulos, the city’s director of administrative services.

“We rebid contracts when the original contract expires,” he said.
