Garden tour in full bloom

Ventura Botanical Gardens will host its seventh annual Spring Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., April 25, followed by The Legacy Legs After Party celebrating renowned plant breeder Theodosia Burr Shepard.

Six private Ventura gardens created by homeowners and landscape designers will be open to the public for self-guided tours.

The gardens were chosen for their uniqueness, including one designed for the child within, a garden utilizing turf to reduce water consumption and a Nantucket garden by the sea.

Attendees should wear flat shoes and allow three to four hours to visit the gardens. Maps will be included with ticket purchase.

The Legacy Legs After Party will run from 3 to 7 p.m. Paul Mayberry, great-great-grandson of Burr Shepard, will share stories. In addition, Jade Hendrix, niece of Jimmy Hendrix, will provide musical entertainment. Food trucks, Surf Brewery and Desserts to Die For will also be on site, and there will be a plant sale and silent auction.

Cost for the Garden Tour is $25 and includes food, and cost for the After Party is $25. Tickets are available at www.VenturaBotanicalGardens.com or at Villa Tasca Gardens, Oasis Patio & Garden, Palermo, Danny’s Deli, Green Thumb and Pacific Oaks Federal Credit Union.
