Suspect sought in bank theft
A man approximately 50 to 60 years old walked into the bank on Sept. 30 at 8:30 a.m. and showed a handgun to bank employees. He collected an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank.
The bank, located at 470 Arneill Road, is the second bank in the shopping center to be robbed. The nearby Citibank was robbed in April, but the suspect was caught and is in jail.
Detective John Gleason, a sergeant with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office major crimes bureau, said the robbery happened quickly.
“It definitely was not a traditional style bank robbery where someone goes in and hands the teller a note, but I can’t get into the specifics,” Gleason said.
Nobody was hurt during the incident, though employees were rattled.
The suspect is a white male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a heavy build.
During the robbery, he wore a baseball cap, black jacket, black gloves, a white shirt and white jeans. He wore black tennis shoes and was seen carrying a darkcolored backpack.
Anyone who recognizes the man or has further information should call Gleason at (805)384-4727.
Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS. The call is not recorded and anyone who gives information leading to an arrest can receive a monetary reward up to $1,000.
