County museum to celebrate 100 years
The Museum of Ventura County will honor its 100th birthday with a free community celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Sun., April 7 at 100 E. Main St. in downtown Ventura.
The festivities will include old-fashioned games and crafts, period costumes, a sing-along with the Take Four barbershop quartet, handmade toys by woodworker Gene West, and kids’ play areas with bean-bag toss and pick-up sticks.
The galleries will have free admission.
The community celebration is part of the museum’s ongoing series to encourage art awareness, Free First Sundays. These events take place every first Sunday of the month and feature free admission.
To celebrate its centennial throughout the year, the museum will feature exhibits and events. The latest exhibit, Prized Possessions: A Century of Collecting, features art, objects and documents from the county.
