Professor leads oil spill team
Dr. Sean Anderson, Cal State Channel Islands associate professor of environmental science and resource management, created and co-led a team of 22 scientists in constructing a complete conceptual model for understanding the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and how such spills should be handled in the future.
Their findings are published in the May issue of the Bioscience journal in an article titled “A Tale of Two Spills: Novel Science and Policy Implications of an Emerging New Oil Spill Model.”

Along with continuing to work on understanding the spill with colleagues, Anderson has involved CSUCI students in research and recovery projects related to the disaster.
