Children qualify for state competition


CREATIVE BUNCH—Four La Mariposa Elementary School students were honored as District 12 finalists for the National PTA Reflections art program during a Jan. 12 ceremony at the Ventura County Office of Education in Camarillo. The honored students and their principal are, from left, fourth-grader Taryn Liu, fourth-grader Karlee Blauert, Principal Jay Greenlinger, second-grader Colin Wong and fifth-grader Christy Guglielmo. Taryn and Christy received the top honor, Award of Excellence, in their categories and will compete at the state level. Winners of the statewide competition will be announced April 29 at the 2011 California PTA Convention in Long Beach.
