Future rocket scientist?
      PREPARE FOR LIFTOFF— Cornerstone Christian School fifth-grader Jennifer Frye, 10, builds a rocket she’ll launch with those of her fellow classmates at the Camarillo private school on Mon., Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. The rocket launch is part of a four-week course to teach the children about the art and science of aviation.

Students put their best foot forward
      GREAT WORK— Tierra Linda Elementary School students from Kristin Hicks’ fifth-grade class show off the 1,416 pairs of shoes they recently collected for the Nashville-based charitable organization Soles4Souls. The footwear will be sent to Haiti for those affected by last month’s earthquake.

Charter school to hold enrollment lottery
      A random lottery will take place Feb. 24 to 26 for the 201011 school year for students who want to enroll at Camarillo Academy of Progressive Education (CAPE) charter school, an independent public school, at 777 Aileen St., next to Valle Lindo Park. Applications must be submitted at the school by Feb. 23 to be included in the lottery.
