Strickland to seek county tax collector post
County supervisor advocates more stringent qualifications for job
      Assemblymember Audra Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) announced this week she’ll run for the post of Ventura County Treasurer-Tax Collector in 2010. The treasurer is responsible for the collection of taxes that fund county government. The annual salary is $150,445.

      Meadowlark Service League in Camarillo will present its 31st annual Holiday Home Tour fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Sun., Dec. 6. A Mediterranean-style home, a Tuscan villa, a contemporary home and a Queen Anne-style mansion, all decorated for the holidays, comprise the four Camarillo homes on the tour.

Lions want eloquent students
      The Camarillo/Somis Pleasant Valley Lions Club is looking for youths to compete in the club’s annual Student Speakers Contest. The contest is open to all students in grades nine to 12 and those under the age of 21 as of Feb. 22, 2010, including foreign exchange students. Speakers may be from any public, private, charter or home school, or engaged in independent study.
