Questions severity of crimes
      This letter is in regards to the Nov. 6 article “Cities bracing for state’s early release of inmates.” I don’t understand why second-degree robbery is a “violent crime” and comes with a strike. A second-degree robbery means there was no weapon or violence. Does it make sense it’s considered a felony?

H1N1 vaccine is necessary
      This letter is in response to the Nov. 6 letter to the editor, “Thinks H1N1 vaccine is dangerous.” God-given immune systems did not prevent the loss of 20 million lives during the flu pandemic of 1918. Nor did God prevent the deaths of 36,000 Americans during the 2007 to 2008 flu season.

Emergency preparedness clinic is free
     The emergency preparedness team for Living Oaks Community Church will host a training seminar for people in the community from 9 to 11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 14 at the church, 1033 Business Center Circle, Newbury Park. The topic will be “Creating an Emergency Food Plan and Supplies.”
