Save a life, donate blood
      The Ventura Downtown Farmers Market will host a blood drive on Sat., Oct. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at E. Santa Clara and Palm streets, Ventura. The drive will be conducted by United Blood Services in a UBS van. Those interested in giving blood must be healthy and be able to show identification.

      Families of wartime veterans and surviving spouses are invited to attend a free seminar on aid and attendance benefits at 6:30 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 15 at AlmaVia, 2500 Ponderosa Drive North, Camarillo.
