Christian school begins first year
Academy to focus on grammar, logic and rhetoric
      A Camarillo school will open its doors for the first time at the end of this month. The Beacon Hill Classical Academy, a private school that emphasizes a classical Christian approach to education, will begin classes on Mon., Aug. 31. Devin Smith, school headmaster and first and secondgrade teacher, said he is eager for the school year to begin.

Enroll for parenting class
      The Parent Project will take place from Wed., Sept. 2 through Oct. 28 at the Camarillo Police Station, 3701 Las Posas Road. The program is free and for parents only. Parents will learn to identify problems and create an action plan and a list of house rules. They will also learn how to identify and respond to adolescent drug and alcohol use.

Enrichment courses offered in Oxnard through CSUCI
      The CSUCI Osher Institute will offer university-quality classes for mature learners at the Oxnard Public Library, 251 S. “A” St. Classes will begin on Aug. 26 and continue for six weeks.  The classes at Oxnard Library are open to adults of any age. The courses are for enrichment only and do not offer tests, grades or college credits.
