State Assembly candidate enjoys successful fundraising campaign, local GOP backing
About 80 percent of the campaign’s contributors are located in Ventura, Santa Barbara and northern Los Angeles counties, Gorell campaign officials said. Major local contributors include State Sen. Tony Strickland, the Ventura County Lincoln Club, the Santa Ynez Band of Mission Indians and Ventura business owner Myron Harrison. ”I am honored to receive the support of so many people, businesses and organizations in the 37th Assembly District,” Gorell said. “The focus of my campaign has been to build a strong base of local support, and I’m very pleased with the progress we have made toward achieving this goal, especially during these tough economic times.” Gorell said the Ventura County Prosecutors Association, the Santa Paula Police Officers Association and the Ventura County Republican Party have all recently endorsed his candidacy. The candidate worked as an advisor to thenGov. Pete Wilson from 1993 to 1996 and as a statewide business advocate with the California Manufacturers and Technology Association from 1996 to 1999. He also served Ventura County as deputy district attorney for more than six years from 1999 to 2006, working as a trial prosecutor in the major narcotics and violent felony units. Gorell is a small-business owner, a practicing attorney, and an adjunct professor of public policy at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. A war veteran, Gorell serves in the United States Navy Reserve and was deployed to Afghanistan after Sept. 11, 2001. He was recently promoted to the rank of lieutenant commander and continues to serve today in the reserves as a naval intelligence officer. He lives in Camarillo with his wife, Laura; daughter, Ashley, 6; and infant son, Jack. For more information about Gorell, visit www.jeffgorell.org. |
