Big and furry, Archie is a media darling

PROUD POOCH—The Ventura County Board of Supervisors declared June 2 "Archie Day" to recognize the special role the therapy dog plays in the lives of abused children who live or attend school at Casa Pacifica, a Camarillo-based shelter. The 180-pound, 3-foot-tall Newfoundland is surrounded by media and county supervisors as he sniffs one of the many accolades he received for his therapy work with children, who find the gentle giant a soothing companion. The Camarillo Acorn's voluntary subscription drive continues to raise money for Casa Pacifica. Please see page 4 for details.
