TOP SCOUTS—Eight Camarillo teenagers were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout during a June 5 Court of Honor ceremony at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Las Posas Road in Camarillo. The young men were from Troops 260 and 222. The teens include, from left, Nathanael Sullivan, 16; Connor Hoybjerg, 17; and Justin Hafen, Steven Speakman, Tanner Maddux, Austin Hallinan, Matthew Tao and Bret Maddux, all 18. The joint Court of Honor was held because of the boys' strong ties to each other through school, sports and church as well as scouting, said Steve Sullivan, Troop 260 scoutmaster. To reach the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn 21 merit badges in a variety of subjects, do many hours of community service, provide leadership to the Scout troop and organize and carry out a special service project that benefits the community and demonstrates leadership.
