Police: social host law still in effect
      Deputies in Camarillo issued more citations for underage drinking in the past three years than did deputies in the four other cities and unincorporated areas under the jurisdiction of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

      Christopher Lester Oswald, 41, of Camarillo recently pleaded guilty to two counts of felony possession of child pornography.

Construction to begin on industrial condos
      Construction to transform a vacant 5-acre parcel on the city's west side into industrial condominiums is expected to begin this summer. Owner and developer Al Dickens of Camarillo Airport Industrial Condos plans to begin construction in July on four buildings with 38 industrial condos on Bajo Agua Avenue, south of Ventura Boulevard and east of Central Avenue.

      The Gold Coast Concert Chorus will celebrate the 80th birthday of Mickey Mouse with a concert at 8 p.m. Fri., June 5 and 2 p.m Sat., June 6 at Ventura Baptist Church, 5415 Ralston St., Ventura. The performance will include such songs as "Who's Afraid of the Big Bag Wolf?

Little dancer gets the party started
     IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers SO YOU THINK YOU CAN . . .—Miles Brown, 4, whose stage name is "Baby Boogaloo," shows off his "popping" dance skills to the delight of the crowd at the World Party Day festival earlier this month. Miles is a student at University Preparation School at Channel Islands preschool. The event was held at the school and featured international food, games, booths and performances.

Teens arrested on burglary charges
      A Camarillo teen and two others were arrested last week and charged with burglarizing a home in the 400 block of Calle Converse in Camarillo. Around 11 a.m. on May 21, police responded to a possible burglary in progress at the home and saw two males running from the back of the house.

Club awards CAPE student
     IT'S NICE TO BE APPRECIATED—Kayla Gucciardo, a 12-year-old student at the Camarillo Academy of Progressive Education, Is awarded the "Youth We Appreciate Award" by the Noontime Optimist Club in Camarillo on April 20. Kayla is not only a good student but also a good citizen. She asked her friends not to give her presents for her 12th birthday but instead to bring food to donate to the Oxnard-based FOOD Share, a regional food pantry.
