FRIENDS FOR A CURE—Employees of Keller Williams Realty of Camarillo participated in the 16th annual REVLON Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles on May 9. The 5K walk draws an estimated 60,000 people and raises money for cancer research. This was the second year team "Keller Williams and Friends for a Cure" has participated in the fundraiser, and this year the team rallied around Carolyn Taylor, at right, wife of realty agent Bob Taylor, second from right. In February, Carolyn was diagnosed with cancer and in April had major surgery. Doctors removed three ribs, her diaphragm wall, chest lining, cartilage and half a lung. The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden has officially reopened after sustaining extensive damage in the recent Jesusita fire. For safety reasons some areas of the garden are not accessible, but visitors can still see many of the exhibits. More ... FOR HER DAD—Camarillo High School graduate Erika Sanchez-Little will run the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego May 31to raise money for her stepfather, Bob Little, who suffered a stroke in 2007. According to members of the Camarillo family, they have spent their savings to cover medical bills for Little. The family faces foreclosure on their home and will use money raised through marathon donations to pay for physical therapy and medication for Little. The Camarillo Family YMCA is accepting registration for summer day and resident camps. Some of the accredited camps will begin June 15. Participants can attend traditional day camps, such as Friendship and Explorer camps, with different weekly themes and activities. More ...
