Children's choir to perform

The Children's Choirs sponsored by the Master Chorale of Ventura County will present two performances of their spring concert, "Finding Joy," at 7 p.m. Mon., May 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Ventura and 7 p.m. Tues., May 12 at Camarillo Baptist Church, 1601 Temple St.

The choirs are directed by Cheryl Gillaspy.

The children will be joined by the Casa Choirs of Camarillo for a total of 70 young singers.

The first half of each concert will be classical while the second half will be American music.

The boys' choir will include a piece based on Ogden Nash's "Animal Verses." The older girls will sing an arrangement of "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair" by Stephen Foster.

A string trio of advanced piano, violin and cello students and soprano Alexa Constantine will also perform.

Tickets at $10 will be available at the door each evening. Monies will go toward funding concert tours.

Following each performance, children who have an interest in participating in the choirs may audition on site or make an appointment for a private audition.

Membership in the choirs is by audition only. Tuition is required.
