Rio Mesa girls power into polo final
Defense puts clamps on Cabrillo in second half
      After watching the Rio Mesa High boys' water polo team play in the CIFSouthern Section Division VI title game last November against Crescenta Valley, there's nothing senior Morgan McCardell wanted more than to compete in a finals match herself with her RMHS girls' squad.

Area ballplayer named Dodgers' top prospect
      Newbury Park High graduate Andrew Lambo has been named the Los Angeles Dodgers' No. 1 minor league prospect by Baseball America. The announcement was made on the publication's website late last month. "It's a pretty big honor because we have such a heavily stacked system," said Lambo, a corner outfielder.

Wrestling update
      Camarillo High wrestlers Jonathan Urango and Matt Hickman, as well as Rio Mesa's Matt Tao, earned a trip to the CIF Masters Meet at Temecula today and Saturday. Urango was the 160-pound champion at last weekend's Northern Division's Pacifica Regional Individual Finals.
