Time to nominate teachers for award
Nominations for the 2008-09 Teacher of the Year award, sponsored by Teachers' Insurance Plan, are being accepted through Thurs., April 30.
The award will include $1,000 for the winning teacher and a $500 grant to the teacher's school. The state winner will also be eligible for the national award that includes a special recognition and a $2,500 travel certificate.
Teachers, students and parents can nominate any accredited teacher. Nomination forms are available at www.teachers.com.
Entries must explain in 250 words or less why the educator should be Teacher of the Year.
Nominees will be judged on their ability to motivate students, their talents and their contribution to their school, students and educational community.
Winners will be announced at the start of next school year.
