Paying tribute to a Camarillo artist
      ART APPRECIATION— Art enthusiasts, above, gather around the paintings of Robert Dominguez, on display at the Camarillo Senior Center Jan. 29 during a one-day retrospective of the Camarillo resident's work. The art show featured 18 of Dominguez's paintings, mostly watercolor and acrylic.

Audubon society announces trips
      The Ventura Audubon Society announces its upcoming field trips. For more information, visit www.VenturaAudubon.org. Sat., Feb. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon. Sandy Hedrick will lead a group on Restoration Work Day in Santa Paula. The group will meet at 8 a.m. for birding, and work will begin at 9 a.m.

Conservation group receives 2 donations
      ceived two unsolicited monetary gifts. The local land conservation group received donations from Tom and Kerry Weisel and from the Wallis Foundation. Both donors have given to the conservancy in the past. The Wallis Foundation gift was facilitated by Jack Baker, a former Ventura resident who sits on the foundation board.

Go fish
     IT'S A BIG REEL—Dwight Evans shows off a 13-pound largemouth bass he caught last month at Lake Casitas in Ojai. Evans, a Camarillo resident, said the catch "was a gigantic highlight in my fishing days." By the way, he released the fish back into the wild.
