Samuel was nominated by his teacher, Robert Waggoner, right, who said Samuel met the club's criteria with strong academic achievement, exceptional service to school and community, and for positive character and citizenship. Samuel raised $700 during the Relay for Life cancer research fundraiser in Camarillo last year. He is also president of the 82-member Optimist "JOOI Club" (Junior Optimist Octagon International) at Rancho Rosal. His sister, Olivia, received this same award in 2007.
