Says federal court cases will impact city's future
      Two current federal court cases can do more to shape the future of Camarillo and Ventura County than decades of careful land use planning, voting outcomes and respectfully crafted intercity agreements. At the heart of each case is the tension between local control and the dictates of powerful unions, judiciaries, lobbyists and bureaucrats.

Optimists give thanks
      The Camarillo Noontime Optimist Club publicly thanks the many people who made our 2008 Christmas project a resounding success. Sixty-nine children from across the city of Camarillo participated in an evening coordinated through Pleasant Valley School District community outreach and our Optimist Club.

      The headline for the Jan. 23 letter to the editor "Sunday schools need to address anti-Semitism" should have read: "Schools need to address anti-Semitism," as the author intended the letter to be for schools of all types.
