HANDSOME HORSES—Above, Mike Kelly of Santa Barbara holds up his daughter Courtney, 4, to pet Xamarillo, a 6-month-old Camarillo white horse colt held by Carmela LaDow, right, at the Adolfo Camarillo Ranch House on Jan. 18. The Kelly family was attending the dedication ceremony for the Adolfo Camarillo Memorial Highway road signs, which were recently posted along the 101 Freeway at the east and west borders of what was once part of Camarillo's property. The signs were erected to honor the rancher and longtime philanthropist whose family helped found the city which bears their name. Courtney is a great-great-granddaughter of Camarillo, and Xamarillo is a direct descendent of the original Camarillo white horses. Ynez Parker LaDow of Ojai, right, leads Jefe, a 28-year-old Camarillo white horse, around the historic home. Below, Camarillo Ranch Foundation board member Bill Little addresses those in attendance at Sunday's ceremony, as Chuck Andrews, the board's president, stands behind a replica of the freeway signs.
