Church celebrates Epiphany

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church will have its annual Epiphany-Blessing of the Waters ceremony at 10 a.m. Sun., Jan. 11 near the Greek at the Harbor restaurant, 1583 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura.

Celebrants, including priests, divers and a choir, will proceed to the dock for the ceremony. Afterward, a luncheon and party will be held at the Greek at the Harbor restaurant.

Breast cancer talk at church

Women's Ministry of Trinity Presbyterian Church will host Cristen Cervellini-Calfo, author of "When Mommy Loses Her Hair," at 7 p.m. Mon., Jan. 12 in the church's fellowship hall, 2304 Antonio Ave., Camarillo.

Cervellini-Calfo will tell her story of breast cancer and how she told her young daughter about what was going to happen.

Copies of her book will be available for signing.

Landings program welcomes Catholics

Landings, a program designed to welcome back returning Catholics, will begin an eightweek series at 7 p.m. Wed., Jan. 14 at Padre Serra Catholic Church, 5205 Upland Road, Camarillo.

The program focuses on sharing and exploring faith issues and offers returning Catholics a supportive community.

'Rabbis for a day' at Ner Ami

The fifth-grade class at Temple Ner Ami will be "rabbis for a day" at 6 p.m. Fri., Jan. 30 at the temple, 4098 Calle Tesoro, Camarillo.

Each student will lead prayers in English and Hebrew and offer short sermons on the Torah portion.

The event includes a potluck dinner and dessert table.
