YMCA offers healthy, supervised activities
Child care, parents' night out also available

The Camarillo Family YMCA has announced its event calendar for May. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at the YMCA, 3111 Village at the Park Drive, Camarillo.

•Registration is being accepted for the fall child-care program. The Camarillo Family YMCA Child Care program is available for children in grades kindergarten through six in the Pleasant Valley School District, University Prep School and CAPE, and is operated at school sites around the community before and after school.

Childcare activities are structured to enhance children's development and include homework tutoring and positive social interaction as well as transportation to and from most schools in the district.

•Children ages 3 to 12 can participate in the eight-game Jr. World Series T-Ball/Softball league. Teams will play six Saturday games and two weeknight evening games. The first practice will be on Sat., May 31, and the first game is scheduled for Sat., June 7.

Cost is $80 for Camarillo Family YMCA members and $95 for nonmembers.

•Registration is underway for the Spring II session of Youth Wellness classes at the YMCA. Classes offered include swimming, volleyball, tumbling, dance and judo. The session runs from Mon., May 19 to Sat., June 28.

•A "Parents' Night Out" will be held tomorrow, Sat., May 17. Parents can drop their children off at the YMCA to participate in games, crafts, dinner and a movie. Cost is $13 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Reservations are required.

•Swimming lessons are also available to the Camarillo community. Participants will learn the fundamentals of swimming and water safety, increase self-confidence and enjoy a healthy activity.

Lessons run from May 19 to June 28, and June 30 to Aug. 9. Two-week mini-sessions will also be available from June 16 to June 26 and Aug. 11 to Aug. 21, with lessons held Monday through Thursday.

Twiceaweek and onceaweek group lessons will be provided for children ages 6 months to 12 years. Classes are divided by age range. Private lessons for children age 3 and up, as well as adults, are also available. Cost ranges from $26 to $85.
