Cornerstone Christian claims Omega League baseball title

With the CIFSouthern Section baseball playoffs set to begin next week, Cornerstone Christian appears to be primed for a solid postseason run.

The Eagles entered Thursday's regular-season finale at Pilgrim with a 12-7 overall record and a 9-0 mark in the Omega League.

Cornerstone Christian has already wrapped up the league title, finishing well ahead of secondplace Sierra Canyon.

Following a slow start to the season, the Eagles have been redhot in recent weeks, winning nine of 10 contests prior to the Pilgrim game.

The Eagles entered the week with a .420 team batting average and 92 stolen bases.

Cornerstone Christian's hottest hitters have been Mark Stover (.533 average), Aaron Roth (.509), John Rossie (.491), Mark Fitzgerald (.473), Tony Johnson (.444), Nathan Roth (.431) and Nick Alpers (.391).
