Doing their part to help the environment

GREEN TEAM- La Mariposa Elementary School students and staff plant a Chinese elm tree in the school's main quad as part of an Arbor Day celebration on April 24. During the school year, La Mariposa students participated in the Wal-Mart Recycling Challenge. For each 60-gallon bag of plastic shopping bags, the retailer gave $5 to La Mariposa. Between October and March, the school collected 100 of the 60-gallon bags of plastic.
