Conejo Mountain to honor veterans

A Memorial Day ceremony focusing on honoring the service of U.S. military veterans will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., May 26 at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, Memorial Park and Crematory, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo.

The event will feature The Lee Jennings Veterans' Memorial Avenue of the Flags, a display of American flags lining the roadways.

The ceremony is titled "Lest We Forget" and will be led by keynote speaker Lt. Jeffery E. Turner, Civil Engineer Corps, U.S. Navy, 30th Naval Construction Regiment.

Families of those serving abroad, local veterans' groups and the families and friends of veterans will be in attendance, as well as local city and county dignitaries. Camarillo Mayor Charlotte Craven and Ventura County's 3rd District Supervisor Kathy Long will participate in the ceremony. Music will be provided by the Camarillo Community Band, the Gold Coast Pipe Band and the Sweet Adelines Quartet.

Appetizers and refreshments will be offered in the community room following the ceremony.

The event is free and open to the public.
