Independent study high school now enrolling With the state budget cuts to California public schools, more and more Ventura County families are looking for new educational options. One of those new options will be El Camino High School, a Ventura-based public high school that will open its new campus at Ventura Community College in the fall. Although El Camino has been a public school on Dean Drive in Ventura for many years, the high school will open next year at its new facility on the college campus. El Camino High School is an accredited school which offers all of the University of California college preparatory courses in an independent study setting. High school students have access to all college has to offer, including the opportunity to build college and high school transcripts concurrently. Students also have the flexibility to pursue internships, community service and work experience while in high school. Those attending El Camino have the time and flexibility to pursue athletics, music and the arts. The high school is an option for students who are competing in highlevel athletics or pursing a professional career in the arts and are unable to attend classes in a traditional high school setting. By attending El Camino, students have the opportunity to transfer directly to any university while still pursuing their acting, sports or music interests. El Camino High School is free and is open to students throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties. Fall enrollment is open now.
