Charity golf event nears

The Drive Fore Hope golf tournament will be held Mon., May 19 at the Sterling Hills Golf Course, 901 Sterling Hills Drive, Camarillo.

The event, organized by the Scott family of Camarillo, will benefit the Hunter's Hope Foundation, established by former NFL quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, in 1997 when their son Hunter was diagnosed with Krabbe leukodystrophy, an inherited, fatal nervous system disease.

The Scott family's daughter Jacquelyn died of the disease in 2005.

An objective of the Hunter's Hope Foundation is that all newborns are tested through a Universal Newborn Screening Program for all diseases.

The foundation funds research to identify new treatments, therapies and a cure for Krabbe and other leukodystrophies.
