Faith Briefs The Sisterhood and Brotherhood of Temple Ner Ami will host Ventura County author and scholar Lillian Hawthorne at a Sunday brunch, 10 a.m. May 18 at 4098 Calle Tesoro in Camarillo. Hawthorne has written three books on aging: "Finishing Touches," "Sisters and Brothers All These Years" and "Husbands and Wives All These Years." She also serves as a consultant to senior counseling programs and is a columnist for Senior World magazine of California. The topic of Hawthorne's discussion will be the Jewish history of Camarillo. Local missionary will speak to UMC women Bea Sandy, a missionary to Papua New Guinea, will speak to the United Methodist Women of the Camarillo United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Mon., May 12 in Brooks Hall at the church, 291 Anacapa Drive, Camarillo. Sandy is a teacher missionary with the Wycliffe Bible Translators in Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea, teaching home economics, sewing and other subjects to elementary and high school children.
