Students get a charge out of science project

 
APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE- The Toshiba-sponsored National Science Teachers Association awarded a team of Saint Mary Magdalen School students, from left, Amy Cowgill and Haley Poulson, Principal Marquita Yriarte, center; Nerissa Del Rosario and Nicolette Hernandez honorable mention for their invention, the Sunny Patch, which harnesses solar energy to power MP3 players, cell phones and other electronic gadgets. Their invention is designed to be worn by the owner and eliminates the need to plug in and charge electronic devices. The National Science Teachers Association encourages kindergarten through 12th-grade students of all levels of interest, skill and ability to envision the future by combining science and imagination.
