Church hosts community concert

St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and B.A.S.I.C. Youth Ministry will present Jesse Manibusan in concert at 7:30 p.m. Sun., April 27 at the church, 25 Las Posas Road, Camarillo.

The concert, "A Song for All Generations," will include songs and stories by Manibusan, a singer, songwriter and storyteller. He wrote the theme song for the 2002 L.A. Religious Education Congress, "Bearer of Hope," and co-wrote the 2008 theme song for the National Catholic Youth Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

The concert is open to the public. Free-will donations will be accepted.

Bless pets at center

A pet blessing will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., April 19 on the front patio of the Camarillo Center for Spiritual Living, 340 Mobil Ave., Camarillo.

The Rev. Grace Lovejoy will perform a ceremony blessing the pets of attendees. Treats will be provided for the animalsas well as an additional opportunity for a healing touch. For more information, cal(805) 484-1137 or visiwww.camarillocsl.org.

Day of Prayer event coming up

A Day of Prayer event will be held from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. Thurs., May 1 in the community room of the Ventura County Star Building, 550 Camarillo Center Drive, Camarillo.

The event is free but space is limited. Reservations should be made by Tues., April 29.

Temple honors holocaust survivors

Temple Ner Ami will host the Yom Hashoah ceremony at 2 p.m. Sun., April 27 at the temple, 4098 Calle Tesoro.

Rabbi Michael Lotker will officiate during the program, which will include a screening of the movie "Unlikely Heroes."
