Rotary donates dictionaries
More than 2,000 given to elementary school students

Members of the Rotary Club of Ventura, with help from Ventura East Rotary, purchased 2,500 dictionaries and distributed them recently to all third and fourthgraders in elementary schools in the Ventura Unified School District.

The project had been planned for more than three years, but the cost of the dictionaries had been a hindrance. Rotarians eventually found a vendor to provide highquality dictionaries.

Teams of Rotarians went to two schools, where they distributed the books to third- and fourth-grade classrooms.

Retired educator and Rotarian Kristen Taylor asked the children at Citrus Glen Elementary how many of them had never owned their own dictionary. Only a few children did not raise their hands. "The children were so excited to have their very own dictionary," said Taylor.

The Rotary Club of Ventura was established in 1919. For more information, call president Steve Doll at (805) 278-1400.
