Camarillo youngster a Build-A-Bear semifinalist Sixyearold Camarillo resident Quinn Rohrbach has been named a semifinalist in the 2008 Huggable Heroes search. She is one of 120 young people honored by Build-A-Bear Workshop for demonstrating leadership to help make the world a better place. Quinn is being recognized for helping raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation by participating in various activities such as diabetes walks, painting, cooking and personal fundraisers. In 2007 she raised more than $5,000 for the Kern County Diabetes Walk. The semifinalists will compete in a second round of judging. Thirty-one finalists will be named by April 17. Twelve 2008 Huggable Heroes will be selected to participate in a leadership symposium and be honored at ceremonies in Washington, D.C., in July. In 2004, BuildABear Workshop launched the Huggable Heroes program, each year searching for and recognizing young people making a difference in their communities. Former honorees have been selected for their work with causes such as raising funds for children's cancer and juvenile diabetes research, helping children in underdeveloped countries and helping animals. |
