Community Notes Save Our Kids Music will present the California State University Long Beach Steel Drum Orchestra in a benefit concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Sat., April 12 at the Las Colinas School Gym, 5750 Fieldcrest Drive, Camarillo. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Pleasant Valley School District Instrumental Music Program. Tickets are available at Henson's Music Center, 2291 E. Ventura Blvd., Camarillo. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 17. Children 5 and younger are free. County's beauty focus of harbor exhibit Robert Wassell's exhibit "The Devil's Gate and Other Gems" will be on display from Wed., April 2 to Sun., April 27 at the Harbor Village Gallery. An artist reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Fri., April 4 at the gallery, 1591 Spinnaker Drive, Ste. 117C, in the Ventura Harbor Village. Wassell's work draws inspiration from his hikes in and around Ventura County, including Los Padres National Forest and Channel Islands National Park, which he describes as "two jewels in the crown of America." Wassel attended Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and graduated from the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore in 1972. He was the city of Ventura's featured artist for the Spring Artwalk in 2007 and has numerous solo exhibits throughout the region. Audition workshop The Camarillo Community Theatre will hold a sixweek acting workshop from 3 to 6 p.m. Sat., April 19 through May 31 at the theater, 330 Skyway Drive, Camarillo. The class, taught by Andrea Tate, is "How to Audition" and will cover the steps needed to be considered for a role. Class size is limited, and participants must be 18 years or older. The reception will feature art demonstrations by Merrill and opportunity drawings throughout the day. The exhibit will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Sat., May 10.
