Besana takes helm at Alma Via

Dave Besana

AlmaVia of Camarillo, an assisted living community, has appointed Dave Besana as executive director.

Besana was interim executive director for AlmaVia of San Rafael, where he oversaw the general operations, including supervision, marketing, program activities and budget analysis.

Before that, he served Stars Behavioral Health Group as an auditor and Starlight Adolescent Center community treatment facility as an administrator. His experience also includes a consulting and marketing position with Advance Concepts, where he was involved with the development of leadership seminars, program development and public relations. In addition, he served as foster care director and intake/program director for Remi Vista Inc. in Northern California.

His educational background includes a Master of Arts in organizational management with honors from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara; a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with honors from Simpson University in Redding, Calif.; and an associate degree in residential care counseling from Shasta College in Redding.

Besana is a certified RCFE administrator and has been involved with many organizations, including the Society of Human Resource Management, Family Service Agency in Redding and California Alliance of Child and Family Services.

Besana lives in Camarillo with his wife of 33 years. He has a 26year-old daughter who lives in San Antonio.

AlmaVia of Camarillo, next to St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital, is a nonprofit assisted living and dementia care program sponsored by Elder Care Alliance.
