Rabobank donates $25,000 to nursing association

Rabobank recently made a donation of $25,000 to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association's nurse reentry program.

The program trains registered nurses who have been away from the field, either to raise children, due to relocation or for other reasons, to return as home health or hospice nurses. Bringing nurses back to practice helps relieve Ventura County's nursing shortage.

The gift was made in conjunction with Livingston's 60th anniversary Gala Celebration which will be May 17 at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch.

The Weingart Foundation had previously awarded Livingston $50,000 for the nurse re-entry program, with an additional $25,000 contingent on a match from another funder. Rabobank's sponsorship fulfilled that requirement.

Livingston Medical Visiting Nurse Association is a community-supported nonprofit agency which provides healthcare in the home for the sick, handicapped, elderly and homebound.

Camarillo graphic designer Carol Gravelle was awarded one gold and two silver awards at the Central Coast Advertising Federation's ADDY Awards in February.

The judging was round one of a three-tiered competition to award the best in American advertising. Division winners advance to regional competition, and winners there proceed to national finals.

Gravelle won a gold award for her digital illustration of a "creative platform."

Gravelle also won silver awards for logos created recently for Carmina McGee Well-Being for Women, a holistic wellness center, and the Restorative Exercise Institute, both Ventura-based businesses.

A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Gravelle has been working in graphic design and illustration for 25 years.

A past winner at the national level, she will compete in the second round judging with entries from Southern California and Southern Nevada on April 12.
