Police looking for bandit in 3 armed robberies
By Daniel Wolowicz camarillo@theacorn.com

Detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff's and Ventura Police departments are investigating the recent armed robberies of two electronic stores and a shoe store.

Investigatos said the robberies, which began earlier this month, may be related

On Mon., March 24, a person described as a 6foot tall, 200pound black man in his 20s entered the RadioShack electronic store at 846 Arneill Road around 8:20 p.m., showed a handgun to the clerk and demanded money, according to police reports.

The armed robber, who witnesses said wore a black leather jacket, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a sheriff's department press release.

The man was described as leaving in a possibly newer gray, four-door sedan, police said.

Two clerks were reportedly in the electronics store at the time of the robbery. Neither was injured, said Senior Dep. Bob Maclean, a Camarillo Police Department spokesperson.

Maclean said detectives believe the suspect was also responsible for a similar armed robbery at Payless Shoes, 309 W. Ventura Blvd., on March 18.

Detective Bob MacInnes with the Ventura Police Department said the man may also be responsible for the March 6 armed robbery of another RadioShack on Telephone Road in Ventura.

MacInnes said a description of the gunman matched the description of the suspect in the two Camarillo robberies.

All three robberies took place between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robberies to call Crime Stoppers at 987-TALK (8255).

Calls may be made anonymously.
