Many local standouts make All-PVL winter teams

The Pacific View League has announced its All-League teams for boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' soccer, as well as wrestling and girls' water polo.

Many area athletes were recognized for their excellent athletic achievements this winter. Here is a rundown of the locals who were honored:

Boys' basketball

First team: Josh Creighton, Steve Plantenberg and Thomas Reilly of Camarillo.

Second team: Joseph Soto of Rio Mesa.

Honorable mention: Kyle Griese, Matt Kitagawa and Spencer Mitchell of Camarillo; Bobby Contreras and Gabe Soliz of Rio Mesa.

Girls' basketball

First team: Anne Yoshimura of Camarillo; Julisa De Vad of Rio Mesa.

Second team: Stephanie Ramirez and Britni Vargas-Hardy of Rio Mesa.

Honorable mentions: Sophia Sander of Camarillo; Mary Balderrama and Julianne Jochums of Rio Mesa.

Boys' soccer

First team: Adrian Rocha and Francisco Zinkewich of Camarillo; Jeffrey Hirashima and Jerry Ponce of Rio Mesa.

Second team: Scott Beckman, Brian Peterson and Nicholas Pimley of Camarillo; Spencer Enriquez, Javier Marquez and Luis Reyes of Rio Mesa.

Honorable mention: Erick Acosta, Andres Gonzalez, Jonathan Valles and Doug Wilkes of Camarillo; Rafael Cazares, Dustin Figueroa and Christian Magana of Rio Mesa.

Girls' soccer

First team: Taylor Benton, Briana Lariviere and Brooke Nixon of Camarillo; Alexandra Chavez and Bertina Loui of Rio Mesa.

Second team: Kaitlyn Bossoletti of Camarillo; Lindsay Armenta and Rebecca Jimenez of Rio Mesa.

Honorable mention: Christina Gewerth, Hailey Keairns and Natalie Lopez of Camarillo; Katherine Daily, Maria Lazaro and Kelsey Thompson of Rio Mesa.

Girls' water polo

Player of the Year: Alicia Began (Rio Mesa).

Coach of the Year: Keith McKnett (Rio Mesa).

First team: Maddie Schneider of Camarillo; Alicia Began, Liz Branch, Bianca DiMarcello and Morgan McCardell of Rio Mesa.

Second team: Sarah Conners, Michelle Elrich and Michelle Nunn of Camarillo; Jenny Jamison and Lindsay Wolny of Rio Mesa.

Honorable mention: Emily Andrews and Kristen Martin of Camarillo; LeAnne Atkinson, Katie McGuire, Charlotte Nelson and Shawna Widmer of Rio Mesa.

Wrestling

Lower Weight Class MVP: Albert Candido (Rio Mesa).

First team: Mark Robles (114 lbs), Matt Hickman (142 lbs), Jonathan Urango (145 lbs) and Aulama Lemalu (heavyweight) of Camarillo; Albert Candido (127 lbs) of Rio Mesa.

Second team: Matt Amerault (173 lbs) of Camarillo. - Thomas Gase
