Donations vital to concert series

The Camarillo Arts Council is proud to say that each year our Summer Concerts in the Park Series has grown in diversity and attendance. Attendance for each of the outdoor performances at Constitution Park was between 4,000 to 8,000 per concert. The concerts included performances by topnotch jazz, country, classical and rock musicians.

The best part about these outdoor concerts is they are free. Residents can bring food, drinks, kids and picnic under the stars.

The Camarillo Arts Council, which puts on the concerts, does ask for donations from each audience, as it takes a lot of money to put on these shows. We have professional sound, speakers, staging and lighting, which some artists have compared to the Greek Theatre and Santa Barbara Bowl!

The Camarillo Arts Council is a nonprofit and accepts contributions all year. We are reaching out to all of Ventura County to help support the concert series so we might hear the artists you want to see for a fraction of a normal ticket price.

With another $15,000 to $20,000 donated each year, in addition to what we already receive, the series could include artists such as Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes and Michael McDonald.

We have contacts with many artists, including Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, Hall and Oates, and Linda Rondstadt. All it takes to bring these performers to Camarillo are a few extra dollars in donations.

If you have ever gone to a concert, either a professional one at a major theater or just heard a singer playing a guitar at a small club, the joy and freshness of live music is always something special and intangible. You and your neighbors can easily make these shows happen right here in Camarillo.

Now, at tax time, get out your pens and checkbooks and send a tax-deductible donation of $35 or $50 (or more) to the address below and see how each of us, together, can make a difference.

Thank you, Camarillo!

Please make donations payable to the Camarillo Arts Council, P.O. Box 466, Camarillo, CA 93011. Robert Capellini Camarillo Capellini is a member of the Camarillo Arts Council.
