Board seeking nominations

Nominations are being accepted for three seats on the Camarillo Council on Aging executive board.

Board members must be residents of the greater Camarillo area. A term on the board lasts two years.

A five-member executive board conducts business for the Camarillo Council on Aging with input from an advisory committee, other advisory groups and other members of the community. Final decisions of the council rest with the executive board.

Meetings are held at 9 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Pleasant Valley Senior Center.

The Camarillo Council on Aging represents community members who are 60 or older to the Camarillo City Council and to other organizations and agencies. The council encourages healthy lifestyles and participation in community activities.

Pet adoption, egg hunt at outlets

Camarillo Premium Outlets is sponsoring an Easter Pet Eggstravaganza animal adoption event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., March 16 at 740 E. Ventura Blvd. near Saks Fifth Avenue.

The event will include animal adoptions with Rescue Me Inc., Daphneyland Basset Rescue and Life4Paws, as well as a raffle drawing and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and Freckles the Big Dog until 1 p.m.

A children's Easter egg hunt will take place at 11 a.m., and there will be a pet Easter bonnet/ costume contest.

Contest registration begins at 10 a.m. The parade will take place at noon, with celebrity judging at 1 p.m. Ribbons will be awarded, along with prizes donated from local businesses.

Entry fees are $15 the day of the event, or $20 to be near the front of the procession.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: best Easter costume, best Easter bonnet, best matching pet/owner costume, best moving nonmotorized Easter presentation and best in show.

Golf tourney for youth

The Camarillo Noontime Optimist Club will hold the ninth annual Youth Benefit Golf Tournament and Dinner beginning at 10 a.m. Mon., May 5 at the Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo.

Onthecourse contests will include hole-in-one, male and female closest-to-the-pin, and male and female longest drive.

Entry fee is $150 and includes green fees, cart, range, boxed lunch, goodie bag and buffet dinner. Rhyming time The cost for dinner only is $25. Sponsorships ranging from $100 to $3,000 are available.

All rules of Las Posas Country Club will apply, including soft spikes, collared shirts and no denim.

The Ventura College Opera and Musical Theater will present "A Time Out of Rhyme" beginning 8 p.m. Fri., April 4 at the Ventura College Theater.

Set in Mother Gooseland, "A Time Out of Rhyme" joins more than 35 well-known children's characters as they defend their home from Captain Hook.

Performances are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays April 4, 5, 11 and 12, and 2 p.m. Sundays April 6 and 13.

Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $15 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased at www.tix.com or www.operaworkshop.info.
