Raising funds to fight epilepsy My name is Laura Rasey Miller, and I am a Camarillo resident. This spring my mother Sharon Rasey, also of Camarillo, and my younger son Hayden Miller and I will participate in the National Walk for Epilepsy in Washington, D.C., on Sat., March 29. Epilepsy continues to be a cause near and dear to my family. My oldest son, Calvin, has suffered from an uncontrolled seizure disorder his whole life. No medication or special diet has ever been effective. Unfortunately, many children who have disabilities have the additional complication of battling seizures. We will be calling ourselves Team Calvin. And although we walk for Calvin, we will carry within us the spirit of all the families we know personally whose lives have been touched by epilepsy and seizures. We have been so fortunate to have supportive friends and family that have helped us raise over $4,700. The money we raised will go to fight stigma, raise awareness and find a cure for epilepsy. But we aren't done. We are having a yard sale on Sat., March 1 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2624 Via Corza, Camarillo. Proceeds from the garage sale will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation. We invite people to visit the webpage below to view our National Walk for Epilepsy personal page: www.walkforepilepsy.org/ goto/Team.Calvin. Together we can hope for a future where there is not another moment lost to epilepsy. Laura Rasey Miller Camarillo |
